Building a reputation and trust in a connected culture can be difficult, how are you building a network of individuals who are dynamic, reliable, and participatory?
I am building a network of individuals who are dynamic, reliable, and participatory by self-regulating which online communities I pay mind to and who, within those communities, I personally take the initiate to connect with on a deeper level. More so, I periodically filter through my connections and kindly prune the contact list, riding it of anyone who is no longer contributing to my growth or who is, in actuality upon reflection, hindering my growth.
Are you leveraging healthy relationships from your PLN for growth?
One of the ways I am leveraging healthy relationships from my online PLN for growth is through using a snowballing effect, in which I make new connections through current relationships. This activity also benefits the diversity of my PLN, as it encourages new voices to join my network, brining in new perspectives from diverse backgrounds, while keeping a similar thread of interest for the given topic.
How would you create a PLN prior to engaging in a social media campaign on a topic of your choice?
This is such a fun thought experiment. If I were to create my own PLN with a social media campaign in mind, I would be sure to foster a network that can help me be successful in my endeavor. For instance, I might join certain networks that match the audience of the proposed campaign, for example, if my campaign was raising money for hospitals then I would join online communities whose members were people who were passionate about philanthropy and giving back to the community; I would also join networks that included people who were experienced in the act of campaigning, such as a social media marketing forum on Reddit. I think there are truly so many ways to go about building a PLN that no matter which approach you take first, the benefits will roll in so long as you’re putting in the effort.
